Spent Volume Age Bands (SVAB) sums the BTC amount of outputs spent each day by their age immediately before spending, then divides each band's volume by the daily total. The 13 percentage bands run from <1h and 1h–24h to >10y, describing gross flow rather than unspent supply.
Larger young bands emphasize rapid turnover; expanding older bands show dormant BTC contributing more of the day's flow. On July 4, 2025, >10y reached about 30.9% of spent volume, an unusually large contribution from decade-old outputs that a count-only chart could understate.
Large custody transfers and repeated self-transfers can dominate gross volume without selling. A band's share can also rise because other bands contract, so compare absolute BTC moved and the entity-adjusted version before attributing a spike to economic distribution.
No. It describes the ages of outputs actually spent that day. HODL Waves describes the age structure of supply that remains unspent.
A few old outputs can contain a large amount of BTC. SVAB weights by that amount, whereas Spent Output Age Bands weights each output equally.
It shows outputs that survived for over ten years were spent. The chart does not establish whether keys were recovered, ownership changed or the transfer was a sale.
