Entity-Adjusted Spent Volume Aged 2y–3y totals the BTC transferred on a day after two to three years without being spent. It excludes movements identified as taking place between addresses belonging to the same entity.
An increase highlights activity from holdings that have sat through several years of market changes; a quiet period means little of that stock is moving. The historical high, about 192,171 BTC on July 29, 2019, is far above the band's 2024 maximum of about 18,672 BTC, underscoring the importance of isolated large transfers.
Coin age says when coins last moved, not whether their owners remained economically inactive. Custody arrangements, incomplete clustering and the size of the two-to-three-year supply pool all affect the series, so do not equate an outlier with confirmed selling.
Only approximately. Looking back two to three years locates the previous on-chain move, but that move may have been a transfer rather than a purchase, and the band covers a full year of acquisition dates.
Their previous age determines which spent-volume band records the transfer. The resulting outputs start accumulating age again, rather than remaining two-to-three-year coins.
This metric counts BTC only in the two-to-three-year band. Coin Days Destroyed multiplies amounts by their time unspent and sums across ages, so even older coins receive greater weight.
