About this metric

What it measures

Entity-Adjusted Spent Volume Age Bands groups BTC transferred between identified entities by the age attributed to the spent coins, excluding transfers identified as internal. Each of 12 bands, from <24h to >10y, is a percentage of the day's adjusted transfer volume.

How to read it

A wider old band indicates older holdings contributing more to transfers between entities, with less noise from identified internal moves. The 3y–5y band reached about 54.0% on June 22, 2024; this describes its share of adjusted flow, not the share of all aged supply that was spent.

Address clustering is an estimate and may miss or misclassify internal transfers; later clustering updates can revise history. The denominator differs from raw SVAB, so a higher adjusted percentage need not mean more BTC moved, and transfers between entities still need not be exchange sales.

FAQ

Why does the entity-adjusted chart start with <24h instead of <1h?

This dataset combines the youngest activity into one <24h band and has 12 bands in total. Raw SVAB separates <1h from 1h–24h, so those labels must be combined before comparing the youngest group.

Does entity adjustment remove every non-trading transfer?

No. It filters movements identified as staying within one entity. Transfers between different entities can still be payments, custody movements or collateral transfers rather than trades.

Why can an old band's percentage be higher after entity adjustment?

Filtering internal turnover changes the total volume used as the denominator. An old group's relative share can increase even if its absolute BTC volume is unchanged or smaller.
