Entity-Adjusted Short-Term Holder Realized Profit sums positive USD differences between transfer value and acquisition cost for coins moved by short-term holders each day. Transfers within the same identified entity are excluded; the cohort uses an average acquisition age around the 155-day boundary.
A rising total means recent holders are moving more coins at a profit, or realizing larger gains per coin; a decline means less profit is being realized, not necessarily more losses. The series reached about $3.17 billion on March 5, 2024, when BTC was around $68,341, showing how large this flow can become during strong price advances.
This is a gross profit flow, not profit minus loss, and it covers transfers to all destinations rather than only exchanges. Entity clustering and cohort assignment are estimates, while higher BTC prices can lift dollar totals without a matching increase in coins moved; an on-chain transfer does not prove a sale.
Realized profit measures gains on coins actually moved during the day, in USD. STH-MVRV compares price with the cohort's average cost and describes unrealized gains or losses on holdings.
Zero means no positive gains were counted in the qualifying transfers. It does not quantify losses; short-term holder realized loss is a separate series.
Addresses believed to belong to one holder are grouped together, and internal transfers are removed. This reduces gains recorded solely because a holder rearranged wallets, although clustering cannot identify every internal move.
