Tietoa tästä mittarista

Mitä se mittaa

Spent Volume Aged 5y–7y sums the BTC in outputs spent on each day after five to seven years unspent. The daily unit is BTC, making it a measure of long-dormant coin movement rather than the total balance of old wallets.

Näin luet sitä

Large readings identify unusual reactivation of outputs untouched for many years; low values mean little movement from this particular old-coin segment. The series reached about 94,607 BTC on February 1, 2022, but its 2021 maximum was about 2,394 BTC. This uneven history makes individual events more useful to investigate than a fixed activity threshold.

A transfer after years of dormancy can be a security upgrade, custody change or ownership transfer, and the amount alone cannot distinguish these motives. Coins that never move do not enter the daily flow. The band was impossible before 2014, so early zeros strongly influence full-history comparisons; use established recent periods for context.

Does a five-to-seven-year-old output necessarily contain newly mined early coins?

No. Age is measured from the output's most recent creation, which can follow any previous transfer. A coin mined much earlier can acquire a young output age when it moves.

Does this metric count lost Bitcoin?

Coins that remain inaccessible and unspent do not contribute to spent volume. If an apparently dormant output is spent, the chart records the movement but cannot determine whether keys were recovered or had remained available all along.

How large was the biggest 5y–7y transfer-volume day?

The chart series records about 94,607 BTC on February 1, 2022. That is a daily total across qualifying outputs, not proof of one transaction, one owner or a sale.
