Mitä se mittaa

Spent Outputs Aged Over 10y counts outputs consumed each day whose time from creation to spending exceeded ten years. It is an open-ended age band measured in outputs, showing decade-old output reactivation rather than the BTC value moved.

Näin luet sitä

Positive readings identify decade-old outputs returning to activity; larger counts indicate more output records being consumed, not necessarily more owners. The record was 20,566 on October 21, 2025, with BTC around $110,588; on October 17, 2022 the count was only two, showing how sparse this activity can be.

No output could be over ten years old before 2019, and the eligible population keeps growing as the network ages, so early zeros and full-history percentiles require care. The series does not identify the creator of the coins, establish prior key loss, or distinguish a sale from a move to a new custody setup.

Why does the over-ten-year series start in 2009 if such outputs appeared later?

The history includes zero values before the age band could exist. Bitcoin launched in 2009, so the first possible decade-old activity was in 2019; the earlier dates are not observations of ten-year holdings.

Does a decade-old output movement mean Satoshi's coins moved?

No. Output age cannot establish a person's identity or who originally mined the BTC. Many outputs can meet the age threshold, and this aggregate count contains no ownership attribution.

Can a high count be treated as a large sale of ancient BTC?

No. The count is independent of output size, and the destination or purpose is not shown. Check BTC volume, transaction destinations and exchange inflows before interpreting the movement as potential market supply.
