Coin Blocks Destroyed multiplies the BTC amount of each spent output by the number of blocks since that output was created, then sums the results for the day. Measured in BTC-blocks, it tracks spent coin age with blockchain height rather than elapsed calendar days.

A spike indicates that a large BTC amount, older outputs, or both have moved; subdued values mean less block-based age has been spent. On May 28, 2024, the measure reached about 76.9 billion BTC-blocks, far above its full-history median of about 844 million.
A transfer need not be a sale, and this version includes internal wallet movements. Block production varies, so there is no exact fixed conversion from block age to calendar age; compare the shape with CDD and use Coin Blocks Created to put spending against newly generated age.

How do Coin Blocks Destroyed differ from Coin Days Destroyed?
Both multiply transferred BTC by age. Coin Blocks Destroyed measures that age in blocks, while CDD measures elapsed days, so they are related but their units and exact values differ.
Can BTC-blocks be converted into BTC-days by dividing by 144?
About 144 blocks per day is a target-rate approximation based on ten-minute blocks. Actual block times vary, so precise conversion requires the creation and spending timestamps for each output.
Does destroyed mean that bitcoin is burned?
No. The age attached to a spent output is consumed when it moves and new outputs start accumulating age again. The metric does not represent coins removed from the supply.
