Mitä se mittaa

Spent Outputs Aged 1y–2y records the daily number of outputs consumed after remaining unspent for one to two years. Each output counts equally, highlighting the reactivation of holdings that survived at least a year without an on-chain spend.

Näin luet sitä

More activity means more year-old outputs are being mobilized, while quiet readings mean fewer such outputs are spent that day. The maximum was 783,027 on February 1, 2025, when BTC was about $102,403, compared with a full-history median of 4,290; a large count need not represent many independent holders.

The series is not adjusted for internal entity transfers, so custody migrations can appear as old-holder activity. Its 2009 start includes a period before any output could reach one year, depressing full-history comparisons; examine later periods and the matching BTC volume before drawing conclusions about long-term distribution.

Are one-to-two-year outputs the same as all long-term holder spending?

No. This is one specific output-age interval. The broader long-term holder category begins around 155 days and includes many younger and older age bands, with entity-based versions also using a different classification method.

Does a spike prove holders from a previous market phase are taking profit?

No. The count reveals neither their cost nor the destination. Gains, losses and internal wallet transfers can all consume outputs of this age.

Why are the earliest values zero?

No output can be one year old until a year has passed since it was created. The initial zero-filled portion reflects this age constraint, not a comparable period of investor inactivity.
