Mitä se mittaa

Entity-Adjusted URPD shows the prices at which today's circulating bitcoin was acquired. Addresses controlled by the same holder are first grouped into entities, and each entity's balance is then placed in the price band of that entity's average cost basis.

Longer bars mean more coins carry that price as their cost. Dense bands below the price are often watched as potential support; dense bands above it may add selling pressure when price returns and holders can exit at break-even. Thin bands have historically been crossed quickly.

Entity clustering relies on heuristics; an exchange counts as one entity with a single average cost, and lost early coins stay in the lowest bands. Band widths change with every new all-time high, so compare days with care. The chart maps the cost of holdings, not traded volume.

How does the entity-adjusted URPD differ from the UTXO-based one?

The UTXO-based version places every unspent output at the price when it was created, so a holder moving coins between their own addresses resets the cost to that day's price. The entity-adjusted version groups addresses into entities and uses each entity's average cost, so internal transfers leave the distribution unchanged and it follows holders' real cost structure more closely.

Is a dense cost band always support or resistance?

No. It only shows that many coins were acquired there. As price approaches, those holders flip between profit and loss and may add or exit at break-even, so price often chops around such bands, but whether a level holds depends on demand and sentiment at the time.

Why can I only view one day at a time?

Bands are re-split from each day's all-time high, so they change whenever a new high is set and different days cannot be joined into one time series. The page loads the daily distributions of roughly the last 3 months, which you can step through with the slider; full history is not available yet.
