Mitä se mittaa

Dynamic Realized Supply Density is the share of Bitcoin supply with a cost basis inside a moving band around spot price. The band width is derived from the cumulative standard deviation of one-day returns; eligible BTC is divided by total supply and shown as a percentage.

Näin luet sitä

A larger share means more coins have costs near the current market price and can switch between unrealized profit and loss with price changes. A smaller share means less supply lies within the defined band. The series reached 31.119% on June 2, 2012; its full-history median is about 9.15%.

Both the position and width of the band can change, so rising density need not mean new coins were acquired at the current price. The scalar reading does not locate individual clusters above or below spot, prove support or resistance, or measure trading volume; inspect the cost distribution for those locations.

How does dynamic density differ from a fixed price-band measure?

A fixed-band measure uses a constant percentage distance from spot. This version changes its width using the historical dispersion of daily returns, so its reading depends on both the cost distribution and the band definition.

Does 14% density mean 14% of holders bought at today's price?

No. It describes a share of BTC supply inside a range of cost prices, not a share of people or purchases made today. The raw fraction 0.14 is displayed as 14%.

Can supply density show whether the nearby coins are in profit?

Not on its own. Costs below spot imply unrealized gains and costs above spot imply losses, but this series combines the selected band into one share rather than separating those sides.
