Total Block Space Used by Inscriptions records the cumulative bytes attributed to inscription activity from the series start on December 14, 2022. Totals are separated into Text, BRC-20, Image, Video, Audio and Other; the displayed history represents accumulated data, rather than bytes added on each day.
A steeper line means that category is adding data faster; a flat stretch means little additional space is being recorded. By October 17, 2026, Image had accumulated about 23.55 billion bytes, compared with 5.63 billion for BRC-20 and 3.67 billion for Text. This differs from the transaction-count ranking because content sizes vary.
The level includes all earlier additions, so a large total does not mean current blocks are congested. Raw bytes are also different from virtual bytes or block-weight units and cannot directly price a transaction. Read daily changes for new data demand and use space share and fees to assess current conditions.
The supplied series accumulates bytes over time. New inscription data adds to the previous total, while quiet days flatten the line rather than reversing it.
One billion bytes is 1 GB in decimal units, or about 0.93 GiB. That is a cumulative data quantity, not a single block's size or the disk space required by an entire Bitcoin node.
Payload sizes differ. Image content can be much larger per transaction, so a smaller number of image-related transactions can accumulate more bytes than a much larger number of compact token-related transactions.
