Transaction Count measures the number of on-chain Bitcoin transactions confirmed each day, in transactions per day. Each transaction contributes one count regardless of its BTC amount or how many inputs and outputs it contains.
A sustained increase means more transactions are being settled on the base chain; a decline means fewer confirmations per day. The recorded daily peak was 926,842 transactions on April 23, 2024, compared with a 2022 yearly high of 315,602. This shows how much the scale of transaction activity can change without measuring the value transferred.
Batch payments put many recipients into one transaction, while wallet maintenance and data-carrying transactions can raise activity without a matching rise in users or payment value. Block production and transaction size also affect the daily count. Trades inside exchanges and off-chain payments are outside its scope, so compare it with transfer value, active addresses and fees.
The highest daily count in this dataset was 926,842 on April 23, 2024. This is a transaction count, not a count of users or individual payments.
Count measures how many transactions were confirmed. Volume measures the amount of BTC or its dollar value transferred, so a day with many small transactions can have a high count but a low transfer value.
No. A batch transaction can pay many recipients, and a transaction may instead consolidate a holder's own outputs. Payments and trades settled off-chain do not each create a Bitcoin base-layer transaction.
