Exchange Withdrawal Count totals the daily on-chain withdrawals recorded from tracked exchange addresses, in withdrawals. It measures how frequently BTC is withdrawn, separately from the amount withdrawn or the number of distinct customers.
A sustained rise points to more frequent withdrawal activity, which may reflect custody changes or movement of funds between services; a fall means fewer recorded withdrawals. The series reached 125,884 on November 14, 2022, above the 2018 yearly peak of 112,541, demonstrating that withdrawal surges need not occur only at high BTC prices.
Batching, payout schedules and address labeling can change the count independently of customer demand. Many small withdrawals can coexist with little BTC outflow, while a few large ones can move substantial value. Use withdrawal volume and exchange reserves to assess the amount and balance effect.
No. Count measures the number of withdrawals, while outflow volume measures the BTC amount. A rise in frequency does not establish an increase in total coins withdrawn.
No. BTC may move to self-custody, a custodian or another trading venue. The count does not show the recipient's intended holding period.
Not in BTC terms. A difference between counts measures event frequency only; Exchange Net Flow requires the BTC deposited minus the BTC withdrawn.
