Miner Net Position Change (30d) is the tracked miner BTC balance today minus its balance 30 days earlier. The unit is BTC over the rolling window: positive means net reserve growth, negative means net reserve depletion.
Persistent positive readings show that tracked miner balances are expanding over a month, while negative readings show a net reduction after incoming coins are accounted for. The series reached about -18,020 BTC on July 28, 2024; that is a rolling-month balance reduction, not the quantity transferred on that single day.
Adjacent observations overlap for most of their 30-day windows, so adding daily readings would double-count changes. Payouts, self-transfers and address-label revisions can affect the miner balance without market sales. Early history has different issuance and coverage, and the first month cannot provide a full 30-day comparison.
Subtract the tracked miner balance 30 days ago from the current balance. A value of -5,000 BTC means the balance is 5,000 BTC lower over that window, not that miners sold 5,000 BTC today.
It shows reserve depletion within the tracked wallet set after inflows. Transfers to pool participants, custody changes or spending can all reduce the balance, so exchange destinations and transaction context are needed to assess selling.
The rolling 30-day reduction is becoming smaller. That can happen because new balances improve or because an earlier large decline leaves the window; it does not yet mean the reserve is growing over 30 days.
