Median UTXO Value Created sorts the BTC amounts of outputs created each day and takes the midpoint, measured in BTC per output. It weights each output equally by count rather than by the number of coins it contains.
A lower median means the middle of new-output sizes has shifted down, which can reflect many small outputs; a rise indicates larger typical outputs. At the April 2024 halving it was 0.0001 BTC, or 10,000 satoshis, while on October 17, 2022 it was about 0.00493 BTC.
This is the midpoint of output amounts, not a typical user’s payment or a dust threshold. Batch payouts, change and application-specific output patterns reshape the distribution; BTC price affects the dollar equivalent, and early no-output days recorded as zero are not valid median observations.
The median takes the midpoint after sorting amounts; the mean divides total value by the number of outputs. A large transfer can lift the mean dramatically without moving the median much.
Small outputs can contain only a fraction of a bitcoin. One BTC equals 100 million satoshis, so the 0.0001 BTC reading at the April 2024 halving corresponds to 10,000 satoshis.
Not necessarily. Numerous small outputs can lower the median while large outputs still carry substantial value. Check total output value and creation count to see both the size and breadth of activity.
