Mitä se mittaa

Supply Last Active 1y–2y totals BTC in unspent outputs whose latest on-chain move occurred between one and two years ago. It isolates a one-year-wide slice of older holdings and reports its size in BTC, rather than the percentage of all coins held for at least a year.

Growth means more supply is reaching its first anniversary unspent than is being spent again or reaching its second. The series reached about 4.51 million BTC on May 18, 2019, and its 2022 high was about 4.11 million on November 15. Large readings can preserve the footprint of transfers from a year or more earlier rather than measure present demand.

A decline has two different explanations: spending or successful maturation into the 2y–3y band. Coin age does not show whether those holdings are profitable, and custody transfers can restart the clock without a sale. Compare adjacent older bands and historical cost-basis measures before assigning a change to long-term holder distribution.

Is 1y–2y supply the same as supply last active more than one year ago?

No. The latter also includes coins aged two to three years and every older band. This page excludes all coins once they pass the two-year boundary.

Does a falling 1y–2y balance mean long-term holders are spending?

Not necessarily. Coins reaching two years move into the next band without a transaction. Compare 2y–3y and the broader long-term supply trend to distinguish maturation from renewed activity.

Can this band reveal whether year-old holders are in profit?

It gives their last-move age but not their cost distribution. Coins last moved within the same one-year window can have very different costs, so price comparisons or cohort profitability measures are needed.
