Mitä se mittaa

Supply Last Active 1w–1m measures BTC in unspent outputs last moved between one week and one month ago. It isolates the holdings remaining after the first week of an on-chain transfer and before they enter the one-to-three-month group.

Näin luet sitä

An increase means supply aging beyond one week exceeds the amount spent again or aging past one month. It is a useful bridge between immediate turnover and more persistent monthly holdings. The series reached about 2.88 million BTC on August 26, 2017, while its 2021 high was about 2.55 million on January 16; these were peaks in surviving recent supply, not measured trading volume.

The rolling window can contract even when every coin in it remains untouched, because older outputs leave automatically. New wallet formats, custody migrations and change outputs can also reshape it without new owners. Look for a wave continuing into 1m–3m before inferring that a burst of transfers became lasting holdings.

Why can 1w–1m supply fall without a sell-off?

Outputs exit automatically when they reach one month of age, even if they never move. If fewer outputs enter from the younger band, the balance falls without any spending from existing holdings.

How does the 1w–1m band help track a recent transfer wave?

It shows which outputs from that wave are still unspent after a week. Comparing it with 1d–1w and later 1m–3m supply can reveal an aging pattern, although aggregate totals do not identify the same individual coins.

Does this measure BTC traded on exchanges during the month?

No. It measures unspent on-chain outputs by their last move. Exchange trades can settle on internal ledgers without changing those outputs, while on-chain wallet transfers can change the band without any exchange trade.
