Om detta mått

Vad det mäter

Spent Volume Aged 1y–2y adds the BTC in outputs spent each day after one to two years without an on-chain move. The result is a daily BTC flow from year-old holdings, distinct from the amount of supply still held in that age band.

Så läser du det

Higher readings show more previously inactive year-old coins returning to circulation; low readings show little spending from this cohort. The recorded maximum is about 279,791 BTC on November 22, 2025, while the 2021 annual maximum was about 27,383 BTC. Such differences emphasize the importance of checking individual transfer events rather than assigning a universal activity threshold.

A dormant output need not belong to a single long-term investor, as custodial wallets may hold pooled funds. Internal migrations can also spend large balances without a market sale. The supply eligible for the band changes with past accumulation and ageing, so spending volume alone does not measure the probability that a holder will move coins.

Vanliga frågor

Does spending from the 1y–2y band prove coins were sold?

No. It confirms that qualifying outputs were consumed in on-chain transactions. Custody transfers, reorganizations and payments can do that as well; an exchange destination may add context but still does not prove a sale.

Why is this series zero during Bitcoin's first year?

No output could be one year old before the network itself had existed for a year. The history begins in 2009 with structural zeros, which should not be compared with later years as evidence of investor restraint.

Does 1y–2y volume represent all long-term holder spending?

No. The conventional long-term boundary is about 155 days, so both younger long-term coins and coins held for more than two years sit outside this band. This chart isolates one specific age segment.
