Om detta mått

Vad det mäter

Entity-Adjusted Long-Term Holder Realized Loss adds the USD losses attributed to the long-term holder cohort when coins move between identified entities below their acquisition cost. The age-based cohort is generally associated with holding periods around 155 days or longer; identified internal transfers are filtered out.

Så läser du det

An increase shows that losses are reaching longer-held capital, rather than only recently acquired coins. The 2022 high was about $1.16 billion on June 15, compared with a 2021 high of only $25.4 million. Quiet readings mean little loss realization by this cohort, but do not measure how much unrealized loss it still holds.

Cohort assignment and entity clustering are estimates, not evidence of an owner's investment horizon. A transfer can be unrelated to a sale, and dormant coins generate no realized loss until they move. Dollar totals depend on both the amount transferred and the gap to attributed cost.

Vanliga frågor

How is LTH Realized Loss different from STH Realized Loss?

The long-term measure attributes losses to the older holding cohort, while the short-term measure concerns more recently acquired supply. Comparing them shows whether realized stress is confined to recent entrants or also affects longer-held capital.

Can long-term holders realize losses while other holders realize profits?

Yes. Different coins have different acquisition costs. Older high-cost holdings can move at a loss on the same day that low-cost holdings move at a profit.

What was the 2018 peak in Entity-Adjusted LTH Realized Loss?

It reached about $662.2 million on June 27, 2018. That was this cohort's largest daily loss that year, not a measure of all Bitcoin losses or proof of a final market low.
