Cosa misura

Long-Term Holder Relative Unrealized Profit divides paper gains on profitable coins held for about 155 days or longer by the current market value of all holdings in that cohort. Displayed as a percentage, it uses last-move cost estimates and does not deduct paper losses on other long-term coins.

Come leggerlo

High values indicate that a large part of older holdings' current value consists of paper profit; falling values mean that buffer is narrowing. The 2021 peak was about 92.02% on March 13, while the 2022 low was about 42.37% on December 28, demonstrating how much the profit reserve can contract without disappearing.

Lost and low-cost dormant coins can keep the ratio elevated. High-cost coins aging into the group and old coins leaving through spending change its composition; neither a large profit reserve nor its decline alone establishes that long-term holders are distributing.

FAQ

Does LTH relative profit near 100% mean every long-term holder has doubled their money?

No. It means gross paper gains approach the cohort's current value under the cost model. Individual returns vary, and current value is a different denominator from the original amount paid.

How can long-term holders still show profit during a weak market?

Some older coins retain costs well below spot, so they keep contributing gains even while newer or expensive holdings lose value. Gross profit does not subtract those losses; read the matching loss ratio as well.

What is the historical maximum for long-term holder relative profit?

The recorded peak is about 99.73% on June 8, 2011. The cohort was young and many qualifying coins carried tiny cost estimates, making early extremes difficult to compare directly with a mature market.
