Cosa misura

Age-Adjusted 90D Coin Days Destroyed (CDD-90) takes a rolling 90-day sum of CDD and normalizes it for the passage of time as Bitcoin's stock of possible coin age grows. It is displayed on the configured BTC-days scale; it is neither raw daily CDD nor an ordinary 90-day average.

Come leggerlo

Sustained rises show more accumulated coin age being spent over a quarter after time adjustment. Falling readings show a quieter adjusted spending window. The historical maximum was about 687,288 on October 22, 2017; by October 17, 2022, the reading was about 101,241.

This version retains same-owner wallet transfers, and a large cold-wallet move can influence the measure for the entire window. Normalization improves historical context but does not turn the chart into a measure of sales, and the window makes changes slower to appear than in daily CDD.

FAQ

Why normalize a 90-day CDD series by time?

As the network ages, older coins become available to spend and the potential age inventory grows. Time normalization addresses that changing baseline, which a simple 90-day sum would retain.

How is this different from Entity-Adjusted CDD-90?

Both use a 90-day horizon and time adjustment. The entity-adjusted version additionally filters identified internal transfers and uses entity-based age accounting, so it can trace a different path.

Can a lower CDD-90 mean all old coins have stopped moving?

No. It means the adjusted aggregate over the window has declined. Old coins can still move on individual days, and an earlier spike rolling out can lower the total even if current activity is steady.
