Om denne måling

Hvad den måler

Spent Volume Aged Under 1h adds up the BTC value of outputs spent less than one hour after creation, for each day. It measures gross rapid transfer volume in BTC per day; the same underlying coins can contribute repeatedly through newly created outputs.

Sådan læses den

Sharp rises show more rapid reuse of recently received outputs, which can reflect chained transfers, wallet operations or other short-lived activity. The recorded maximum is 66.74 million BTC on January 24, 2016, far beyond Bitcoin's possible supply because this is a flow rather than a unique-coin balance. Falling readings indicate less sub-hour circulation, not necessarily less exchange trading.

This band is particularly sensitive to repeated movements and service-wallet behaviour, so it is a weak standalone measure of economic demand. A large gross volume does not identify fresh capital, distinct owners or sales. Compare it with the 1h–24h band and longer-lived spending to see whether a burst is confined to very short-lived outputs.

FAQ

How can under-one-hour spent volume exceed 21 million BTC?

Bitcoin's supply limit applies to outstanding coins, not the sum of repeated transfers. Coins can move through multiple outputs within a day and contribute to gross spent volume more than once.

Is this the activity removed by Adjusted SOPR?

aSOPR excludes spent outputs with lifetimes below one hour, the age category tracked here. This chart measures their BTC volume, whereas SOPR measures the ratio between spending and creation values.

Does a sub-hour transfer prove high-frequency trading?

No. Output lifetime records elapsed on-chain time, not a trading strategy. Automated wallet transfers and rapid forwarding can also create very short-lived outputs, while exchange trades may happen without an on-chain transaction.
