Om denne måling

Hvad den måler

Adjusted SOPR (aSOPR) removes spent outputs that existed for less than one hour, then divides the remaining outputs' USD value at spending by their USD value at creation. The result is a unitless ratio with aggregate breakeven at 1.

Sådan læses den

Above 1, the included coins move at an aggregate gain; below 1, their combined spent value is less than their creation value. Persistence matters: a move back toward 1 shows the included spending approaching breakeven rather than a fixed market turning point. The series reached about 0.741 on November 18, 2022, showing a substantial loss on that day's qualifying outputs.

The one-hour filter removes rapid churn, not every non-economic transfer: a wallet reshuffle can involve outputs held much longer. aSOPR covers spent coins only and does not measure the total dollar profit or loss realized. Large old outputs can dominate a day, so compare the raw reading with its 7-day average.

FAQ

Why exclude outputs younger than one hour from SOPR?

Very short-lived outputs usually have similar creation and spending prices, pulling the aggregate ratio toward 1. Removing them makes changes in the profitability of longer-lived outputs more visible.

Does aSOPR measure unrealized profit?

No. It values outputs that were actually spent on-chain. MVRV and NUPL describe the unrealized profitability of coins still held, so they answer a different question.

What range has Bitcoin aSOPR recorded?

The daily series ranges from about 0.600 on November 9, 2011 to 2.950 on April 29, 2011. These early extremes are historical observations, not thresholds for later cycles.
