Om denne måling

Hvad den måler

Entity-Adjusted LTH ASOL is the average lifespan, in days, of eligible spent outputs attributed to long-term holders after removing identified internal transfers. Cohort weights transition around a holding age of 155 days; within that cohort, ASOL measures output age without weighting by BTC amount.

Sådan læses den

Higher readings indicate that spending is reaching deeper into older holdings; lower readings indicate a younger mix within the long-term cohort. At the 2020 and 2024 halvings, readings were about 448 and 577 days respectively, showing that the age of spent long-term holdings changes across periods.

An older network can support older spent outputs, so a rising baseline does not establish greater distribution by itself. Cohort weighting, entity estimates and the number of eligible outputs all affect the mean; pair it with LTH CDD to assess the amount of age being spent.

FAQ

Why can LTH ASOL be far above 155 days?

About 155 days is the center of the cohort classification, not the average age of its spending. Outputs held for several years can push the average much higher.

Why does the early LTH ASOL history include values below 155 days?

The age-based cohort allocation uses gradual weights rather than a strict cutoff for every output. Early observations, when the network itself was very young, should not be interpreted as mature long-term-holder activity.

Does rising LTH ASOL mean more long-term BTC is moving?

Not necessarily. A smaller number of older outputs can lift the mean without increasing the BTC amount transferred. LTH spent volume and LTH CDD provide the size context.
