Om detta mått

Vad det mäter

Short-Term Holder Supply in Profit totals BTC in the recent holding cohort whose last-move price is below current price, using an age boundary around 155 days. The balance is measured in BTC, so it captures profitable quantity rather than profit per coin.

Så läser du det

Growth means a larger amount of recent supply is above cost; falling readings mean fewer recent coins qualify. The balance peaked near 6.02 million BTC on December 16, 2017, while the highest 2024 reading was about 2.93 million. A lower absolute peak need not mean weaker profitability if the recent cohort itself is smaller.

Profitable coins can mature out of the cohort without moving, while spending resets age and cost. Newly moved coins also tend to start near breakeven. Compare with total STH Supply or the profit/loss supply ratio to distinguish a growing cohort from a larger profitable share; this metric cannot measure profit-taking directly.

Vanliga frågor

Does rising STH Supply in Profit show profit-taking?

No. It counts currently unspent recent coins above cost. Realized profit measures coins that actually move above their previous cost, which is a different observation.

Can the profitable short-term balance shrink while holders keep their coins?

Yes. Profitable coins aging past roughly 155 days leave the short-term cohort and enter long-term supply, even without a new transaction.

Why compare STH Supply in Profit with total STH Supply?

The total shows the cohort's size. Their ratio separates how widespread profitability is from how many BTC happen to be classified as recent.
