Spent Volume Aged 2y–3y is the BTC amount of outputs spent on a given day that had existed unspent for two to three years. Summing their face amounts produces a BTC-per-day measure of older-coin reactivation, without multiplying volume by age.

An upswing means more two-to-three-year-old outputs are being spent, while quiet readings mean relatively little activity from that age group. The largest recorded day was March 7, 2014, at about 201,650 BTC; the maximum for 2024 was about 18,771 BTC. The long history therefore contains rare bursts far above more recent daily ranges.
Output age cannot identify the motive for a transfer or establish the owner's original purchase date. Larger custodial moves may dominate, and a fall can result from coins ageing beyond three years as well as from reduced spending. Compare activity within periods when the age band has an established supply, rather than using early structural zeros as a normal baseline.

No. This chart adds BTC without age weighting. Coin Days Destroyed multiplies each spent amount by the days it was held, so older coins contribute more for the same BTC amount.
Will a coin automatically appear here when it turns two years old?
No. Becoming two years old only makes an unspent output eligible for the band. It contributes to this series only if it is actually spent before ageing out of the range.
Why are 2009 and 2010 readings zero for this age group?
Bitcoin began in 2009, so no output could have existed for two years during those calendar years. The zeros follow from the age requirement and do not indicate a missing two-year investor cohort that could already have traded.
