Tietoa tästä mittarista

Mitä se mittaa

Addresses in Profit counts Bitcoin addresses whose current balance is worth more than its estimated on-chain acquisition cost. Coins are valued at their last-moved prices to estimate that cost, then each qualifying address is counted once; the unit is addresses.

Näin luet sitä

An expanding count means more funded addresses have a positive estimated paper return, but both price recovery and growth in the funded-address base can lift it. The series recorded about 54.29 million on October 5, 2025, versus a 2022 minimum of about 21.42 million. The percentage version helps distinguish broad improvement from a larger address base.

An address is profitable in aggregate even if some coins within it carry a higher cost than the current price. Self-transfers can reset the on-chain cost estimate without a purchase, lost coins remain included, and a count gives no measure of profit size or willingness to realize it.

How is an address classified as being in profit?

Its current BTC balance is valued at the market price and compared with the estimated acquisition value of those coins using their last on-chain moves. It qualifies if the current value is higher; this is an on-chain proxy rather than an account statement.

Is this the same as the amount of bitcoin held in profit?

No. Each profitable address has equal weight here, whether it holds a tiny balance or thousands of BTC. Supply in profit weights coins by amount instead.

Can the number in profit rise while the percentage falls?

Yes. If the total number of funded addresses grows faster than the profitable count, more addresses can be in profit in absolute terms while their share declines.
