Om detta mått

Vad det mäter

Average Transfer Volume divides daily on-chain BTC transfer volume by the number of transfers counted in this series. It reports a mean amount in BTC per transfer and does not apply the ownership filter used by the entity-adjusted average.

Så läser du det

Higher values indicate a larger mean transfer size, potentially driven by large transactions or fewer small transfers. The 2022 high was about 59.716 BTC on June 15, compared with a 2024 high near 4.17 BTC on March 13. Falling averages describe a shift in the size mix, not necessarily a decline in total BTC moved.

Large wallet reorganizations can lift the mean without corresponding customer payments, and batching or change-output treatment can alter the transfer count. Early sparse activity produced a high of about 22,175 BTC in November 2009, making cross-era comparisons especially fragile. Compare with the entity-adjusted average, median and total volume for a fuller view.

Vanliga frågor

Is average transfer volume a Bitcoin transaction fee?

No. It is the BTC amount moved per counted transfer. Fees are the separate amounts paid to miners for including transactions and depend on transaction size and fee rate.

Why does the ordinary average differ from the entity-adjusted average?

Entity adjustment removes transfers identified as staying within one owner and changes the qualifying transfer set. On October 17, 2026, the ordinary average was about 0.988 BTC, versus 0.179 BTC for the entity-adjusted version.

Can an average transfer be used to estimate the typical payment?

Only cautiously. A few very large transfers can pull the mean far above ordinary payments, and a blockchain transaction can contain multiple outputs. A median and the exact transfer-counting convention give useful additional context.
