Addresses with Balance ≥ 1 BTC counts distinct addresses with a balance of at least one whole bitcoin. All larger addresses are included; it is a count of addresses meeting a fixed BTC threshold, not a count of individual wholecoin owners.
More qualifying addresses indicate that the one-coin threshold is met across a broader set of balances. The count reached about 1.02 million on January 1, 2024, and stood at 970,511 on October 17, 2026. It was 908,254 four years before that latest reading, so the longer-term expansion coexists with a retreat from the record.
An owner with one BTC spread over several sub-one-BTC addresses may not appear at all, while a custodian can hold many clients' coins in one qualifying address. Wallet reorganizations and fees paid from a balance close to one BTC can change membership. The series does not measure the affordability of a whole coin or the total number of people who own one.
This chart cannot give a person count. It records addresses holding at least one BTC: 970,511 on October 17, 2026, with a historical high of about 1.02 million on January 1, 2024.
Only addresses individually holding at least one BTC are counted. Several smaller balances are not combined, even if the same person controls them.
Paying a network fee, moving a small amount or splitting a balance can bring it below one BTC. Such a change removes the address from the count without proving a market sale.
