Mitä se mittaa

Entity-Adjusted Average Transfer Volume divides the daily BTC volume transferred between distinct entities by the number of qualifying transfers. Addresses attributed to the same owner are grouped, and identified internal transfers are excluded, giving a mean amount in BTC per transfer.

Näin luet sitä

A rising mean points to a larger average transfer, which can reflect more large settlements or fewer small payments. It reached about 2.604 BTC on March 13, 2020, the highest daily mean that year, versus about 0.418 BTC at the yearly low. Compare the median to see whether the change is broad or dominated by a few large movements.

A higher average does not require higher total volume: the denominator can fall faster than volume. Clustering estimates and transfer composition affect comparisons, and a BTC average is not a dollar average. Sparse early activity produced a 22,500 BTC reading in 2009, making that era a weak benchmark for current usage.

How does the entity-adjusted average differ from the ordinary transfer average?

It removes transfers identified as staying within one owner by grouping addresses into entities. The ordinary series lacks that entity filter, so wallet operations can affect its transfer-size distribution differently.

Why can the average be much larger than the median?

A few very large transfers lift the mean while barely moving the middle transfer. On October 17, 2026, the adjusted mean was about 0.179 BTC and the adjusted median about 0.00135 BTC.

Does a declining average mean less BTC is transferred overall?

No. Total volume depends on both the number and size of transfers. More small transfers can lower the average while total volume grows.
