Om detta mått

Vad det mäter

Receiving Addresses counts the distinct Bitcoin addresses receiving coins in confirmed transactions each day, measured in addresses per day. An address counts once that day even if it receives multiple transfers.

Så läser du det

Higher values mean coins are reaching a wider set of addresses; lower values mean fewer destinations are involved. The count reached about 1.073 million on December 14, 2017, and its 2023 high was about 1.018 million on September 15. Compare with sending addresses to see whether transfers fan out to many destinations or consolidate toward fewer ones.

Recipients can be new addresses, existing addresses or change addresses controlled by the sender. Batch withdrawals and wallet reorganizations may enlarge the count without adding users, while transfers inside exchanges and on second layers are outside this on-chain activity measure.

Vanliga frågor

How are Receiving Addresses different from New Addresses?

Receiving Addresses includes both previously used and first-time recipients on a given day. New Addresses only counts addresses receiving BTC for the first time.

Why can receiving addresses outnumber transactions?

One transaction can pay several recipients and return change to another address. The metric counts distinct destinations, not transaction records.

Can the same address be counted as both sending and receiving?

Yes. If an address spends coins and receives coins during the same day, it appears in both daily counts. Adding the two therefore overstates the number of unique active addresses.
