Om detta mått

Vad det mäter

New Addresses counts the unique Bitcoin addresses that received coins for the first time on a given day. Each address is counted once, on the day of its first incoming transfer, making it a gauge of how fast the network is taking on new participants.

Så läser du det

A sustained rise usually signals new users and new money arriving, a pattern seen mostly in the expansion phases of bull markets. If price climbs while new addresses weaken, the advance may lack support from fresh participants. Read it next to Active Addresses to tell whether on-chain activity comes from newcomers or existing users.

Most wallets create a fresh change address for each transaction and exchanges hand out deposit addresses in bulk, so new addresses far outnumber new people; high fees, which price out small transfers, push the count down. Watch the trend and its divergence from price rather than converting it into a user count.

Vanliga frågor

How do New Addresses differ from Active Addresses?

New Addresses only counts addresses receiving BTC for the very first time, so each address is counted only once. Active Addresses counts every address that sent or received coins that day, old ones included. The first tracks network growth, the second usage intensity.

Are new addresses the same as new users?

No. Change addresses, exchange deposit addresses and the habit of using several addresses per person all push the count well above the number of genuinely new people. It works best as a relative gauge, for example whether readings stay above their average of recent months.

Why do some days show unusual spikes?

Exchange wallet reorganizations, large batch withdrawals or bursts of on-chain activity such as inscriptions can create many new addresses in a short time. For an isolated spike, check fees and transaction count to judge whether it was a one-off event.
