Om detta mått

Vad det mäter

MVRV by Wallet Size compares market value with realized cost within address-balance groups, from <0.001 BTC to >100K BTC. Each unitless ratio equals the group's market value divided by its realized cost basis; Overall gives the network-wide ratio.

Så läser du det

A group above 1 holds aggregate paper gains, while a group below 1 is underwater on average. Comparing 1–10 BTC with 1K–10K BTC reveals differences in cost rather than simply in holdings. On October 17, 2026, 10–100 BTC stood near 2.89 versus 1.20 for 100–1K BTC, illustrating how far profitability can differ at the same market price.

Address size does not identify a person or investment strategy: a large address can be a custodian and one owner can split funds across many addresses. Balance changes move addresses between groups, and old low-cost holdings can lift a cohort's ratio. A higher MVRV does not establish greater spending pressure without evidence of actual transfers.

Vanliga frågor

Does a larger Bitcoin wallet always have a higher MVRV?

No. MVRV depends on acquisition cost as well as current value. In the October 17, 2026 snapshot, the 10–100 BTC group had a higher ratio than the 1K–10K BTC group.

Is wallet-size MVRV weighted by the number of addresses?

No. The calculation compares the total market value and total realized cost of the coins in each group. It is not an equal-weighted average of address-level ratios.

Can wallet-size MVRV identify whales making a profit?

It shows aggregate unrealized profitability within large-balance groups, not named owners or realized gains. Exchange and custody addresses can represent many customers, and profitable coins need not move.
