Its chip business mainly serves computing and networking markets, with custom AI accelerators now making up the largest portion of the business. Broadcom is primarily a fabless chip designer but manufactures selected products in-house, including film bulk acoustic resonator filters supplied for Apple's iPhone. Its software portfolio includes virtualization, infrastructure, and security products for large enterprises, financial institutions, and governments. The current company combines the semiconductor businesses of Broadcom and Avago Technologies with software assets from VMware, Brocade, CA Technologies, and Symantec.
