Om denne måleverdien

Hva den måler

Addresses with Non-Zero Balance counts Bitcoin addresses whose remaining on-chain balance is greater than zero, measured in addresses. Dormant balances and very small residual amounts qualify even if the address makes no transaction that day.

Slik leser du den

A sustained increase means more addresses retain some BTC, expanding the stock of funded addresses. The count rose from about 30.00 million at the May 2020 halving to 52.16 million at the April 2024 halving, and recorded 57.30 million on October 17, 2026. Falling readings indicate that more addresses are being emptied than newly funded or refilled.

Residual change, tiny unsolicited transfers and multiple addresses per wallet inflate the total relative to people. Lost coins remain included, while exchange customers sharing custody may leave no separate funded address; the series measures address structure rather than daily activity or verified adoption.

FAQ

How do non-zero addresses differ from active addresses?

Non-zero addresses are a stock: every address with a remaining positive balance. Active addresses are a daily activity count and can include addresses that spend their entire balance that day.

Are tiny or lost balances included?

Yes. A positive balance qualifies regardless of size or whether its owner can still access it. The chart cannot determine which private keys have been lost.

Why can the count fall without a fall in total bitcoin supply?

Coins can move from many funded addresses into fewer destination addresses. The source addresses become empty, reducing this count while the coins remain elsewhere on the network.
