SegWit Transaction Adoption Rate shows two daily percentages: Adoption (tx share), the share of transactions spending at least one SegWit input, and Utilization (input share), the share of spent inputs using SegWit. One measures transaction coverage; the other measures how widely witness spending is used within inputs.

Rising adoption means SegWit spending appears in more transactions, while rising utilization means more of the inputs being spent use it. Adoption reached about 99.03% and utilization about 97.72% on April 20, 2024, showing that very high transaction coverage can still differ from input-level use.
The two lines have different denominators and should not be added together. A transaction mixing legacy and SegWit inputs counts toward adoption even if many inputs remain legacy, and wallet consolidations can move utilization sharply. High adoption alone does not quantify fee savings, transaction capacity or unique wallet support.

Adoption counts a transaction once if it spends at least one SegWit input. Utilization counts individual inputs, so a transaction with both legacy and SegWit inputs affects the two ratios differently.
Does receiving BTC at a SegWit address immediately raise adoption?
This measure follows inputs being spent, rather than newly created receiving outputs. The received coins contribute when they are later spent using SegWit.
Does SegWit adoption show the percentage of Bitcoin users who upgraded?
No. It weights on-chain transactions and inputs, not users or installed wallets. A busy service can account for a large share, while a wallet holding coins without spending them is absent from that day's activity.
