O tejto metrike

Čo meria

The Realized Profit/Loss Ratio divides the daily USD total of realized profits by the daily USD total of realized losses on Bitcoin outputs. It is a unitless gross-profit-to-gross-loss multiple: 1 means equal dollar amounts, above 1 profit dominance and below 1 loss dominance.

Ako to čítať

A rise means profit is increasing relative to loss, whether through larger profits or smaller losses; a fall means the balance is shifting toward loss. The series reached about 0.00721 on December 5, 2018, or roughly $0.72 of profit per $100 of loss, versus about 176.9 on November 21, 2024. These extremes describe the balance, not the volume of activity.

A tiny loss denominator can produce a very large ratio, and a zero denominator makes the quotient undefined. The log chart spans a wide range and cannot show zero or negative values. Unlike a net-dollar figure, the ratio hides scale; identical ratios can accompany very different amounts of profit and loss.

Časté otázky

How is the Realized Profit/Loss Ratio different from SOPR?

This ratio divides gross gains by gross losses. SOPR divides the spent value of outputs by their creation value, including principal, so both use 1 as a dividing line but their distances from 1 have different meanings.

Does a ratio above 1 mean most transferred coins were profitable?

No. It means total dollar profit exceeded total dollar loss. A small number of coins with large gains can outweigh many coins with small losses.

Why does valid ratio history begin in 2010 rather than 2009?

The first valid value in this series is July 19, 2010. Profits and losses need usable price and cost data, and a ratio requires a nonzero loss denominator; an earlier dataset start does not establish an earlier valid quotient.
