Rising volume shows greater movement from exchanges toward large-holder entities, potentially reflecting custody changes or settlement of earlier purchases. The record was about 162,766 BTC on July 31, 2017; the 2022 high was about 60,702 BTC on June 13. Low readings simply indicate fewer BTC taking this route, not necessarily weaker whale demand.
A withdrawal does not date the underlying purchase, and the receiving entity may represent pooled client funds. Exchange and entity labels affect coverage, and the large-holder classification should not be confused with a minimum size for each withdrawal.
