Address Activity Retention Rate expresses retained address activity as a share of the measured address population, displayed as a percentage. It focuses on continued transaction participation rather than whether an address merely keeps a BTC balance.

Higher readings mean repeat activity accounts for a larger share of the measured population; lower readings indicate less continuity. The full-history median is about 13.83%, and the record was about 25.06% on February 9, 2018. The October 17, 2026 reading of about 14.86% was above that median but below the 16.25% recorded a year earlier, illustrating why both level and direction matter.
Retention is sensitive to address reuse, wallet software and services rotating deposit or change addresses. A user who keeps transacting through fresh addresses may appear poorly retained.
