O Open Interest FAQ

1. What does O Open Interest refer to in the derivatives market?
O Open Interest (OI) refers to the total size of O futures positions that remain open and unsettled in the derivatives market. These positions primarily come from O perpetual futuress and delivery (futures) futuress. As long as a futures has not been closed, whether it is a long or short position, it is counted as Open Interest. When traders close positions, hedge exposure, or positions are force-liquidated, Open Interest decreases. In simple terms, Open Interest reflects: how much capital is currently participating in O price movements through derivative futuress.
