Om denne måleverdien

Hva den måler

Change-Adjusted Total Transfer Volume sums the BTC transferred each day after excluding outputs identified as change returned to the sender. It is measured in BTC per day and reduces the duplication caused by spending whole outputs and returning their remainder.

Slik leser du den

Higher totals mean more BTC is moving under the adjusted definition; lower totals mean less gross movement. The 2022 daily maximum was about 8.88 million BTC, compared with about 651,049 BTC in 2024, showing that transfer scale can differ sharply across periods.

Removing change is not the same as identifying all ownership changes: wallet reshuffles and repeated movement of the same coins can remain. Daily turnover can exceed the outstanding supply because coins may move more than once. Read extreme values as gross activity, and compare entity-adjusted volume when assessing transfers between owners.

FAQ

Does excluding change remove all transfers to the sender's own wallets?

No. It removes outputs recognized as transaction change. Other movements between wallets belonging to the same owner can remain, unlike a broader entity-based adjustment.

How can daily transfer volume exceed Bitcoin's supply?

The metric adds movements, not unique coins. The same BTC can be transferred repeatedly within a day; the series records a particularly large 67.245 million BTC total on January 24, 2016.

Is this the amount of BTC traded on exchanges?

No. It measures on-chain transfers after a change adjustment. Most trades on centralized exchanges occur on internal ledgers, while many on-chain transfers involve no trade at all.
