Cosa misura

Addresses with Balance ≥ $1 counts addresses whose BTC balance is worth at least one US dollar at the observation date's BTC/USD price. Each address counts once, so this is a broad minimum-value address count rather than a dollar total or user count.

Come leggerlo

An increase means more addresses sit above the one-dollar filter, including small balances that would be excluded by higher value thresholds. The series reached about 49.95 million on October 11, 2026, and was about 49.86 million on October 17, versus 49.38 million a year earlier. Even near a record, the rate of growth conveys more information than the record alone.

Price appreciation can lift old residual balances above $1 without any new funding. A one-dollar balance need not be economical to spend, and address reuse or splitting affects the count. The earliest readings predate an established BTC dollar market, so those values should not be interpreted as contemporaneously observable one-dollar wealth.

FAQ

Is the $1 address count the same as non-zero balance addresses?

No. Non-zero balance addresses include any positive BTC balance, even one worth less than a dollar. This series applies an additional market-value filter, whose BTC equivalent changes with price.

Can a one-dollar BTC balance cost more than a dollar to move?

Yes. Fees depend on transaction size and fee rates, not the balance's dollar value. Qualification for this metric says nothing about whether a transfer is economical.

How should the $1 address data from 2009 be read?

The series includes early readings before a reliable BTC/USD market price existed. Treat that segment cautiously rather than inferring that a measurable dollar valuation was available at the time.
