Supply Distribution by Address Balance sums BTC held in each of ten address-balance bands and divides each sum by total supply, displaying the results as percentages. The bands run from < 0.001 BTC through 0.001–0.01 BTC, 0.01–0.1 BTC, 0.1–1 BTC, 1–10 BTC, 10–100 BTC, 100–1K BTC, 1K–10K BTC and 10K–100K BTC to > 100K BTC.

A widening band means addresses in that balance range control more of the supply; a narrowing band means their share is falling. On October 17, 2026, 100–1K BTC held about 26.21%, compared with about 20.92% for 1K–10K BTC. The latter had reached about 29.90% on February 5, 2021, illustrating how supply can shift between balance tiers over time.
These are supply shares, not shares of addresses or people. When an address crosses a band boundary, its whole balance changes groups, and a custodian splitting a large wallet can shift supply toward smaller bands without changing beneficial ownership. Lost coins remain included, so the chart cannot establish how evenly BTC is distributed among individuals.

Why do the source values look like decimals rather than percentages?
The series stores fractions of supply and the page multiplies them by 100. A raw value of 0.26205 is 26.205%, not 0.26205% or 0.26205 BTC.
Does the largest balance band represent only individual whales?
No. Large addresses can belong to exchanges, custodians or other services holding BTC for many clients. Conversely, one holder can divide funds among many smaller addresses.
How does supply distribution differ from address counts?
This chart weights addresses by their BTC balances. A threshold count gives each qualifying address one vote, so many small addresses can dominate the count while holding only a small share of supply.
