A mutatóról

Mit mér

Realized Profit adds the positive difference between each spent Bitcoin output's value when spent and its value when created, in USD. The daily total measures gross gains recognized through on-chain movement; losses are counted separately rather than deducted.

Hogyan értelmezzük

A larger total means more profit is being recognized, from more coins moving, larger gains per coin, or both. The series recorded about $4.30 billion on December 7, 2017, and $10.58 billion on November 21, 2024. Such large totals show substantial profit-bearing activity, but do not establish that the market has exhausted demand.

The metric records on-chain repricing, not confirmed exchange sales or cash proceeds. Internal wallet moves can create gains without a new owner, and old low-cost coins can dominate a day's total. Dollar records should be judged alongside market size and the entity-adjusted series.

GYIK

Is Realized Profit the same as trading volume?

No. Trading volume measures the value traded, while Realized Profit only counts gains over previous on-chain cost on outputs that moved. Transfers with no gain contribute nothing even if their total value is large.

Why can Realized Profit spike when BTC moves only slightly?

Coins acquired long ago at a low attributed cost may move in size. Their accumulated gain can be large even if the market price barely changes on the transfer day.

Does Realized Profit subtract Realized Loss?

No. The two are gross amounts tracked separately. Their difference gives net realized profit or loss under the same accounting method, while their quotient gives the Realized Profit/Loss Ratio.
