Om denne måling

Hvad den måler

Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) Reserves sums the bitcoin held in tracked reserve addresses attributed to WBTC backing. It is denominated in BTC and measures the underlying reserve coins, rather than WBTC trading volume or dollar market value.

Sådan læses den

Expanding reserves mean more BTC is held in the tracked backing wallets; falling reserves mean fewer reserve coins remain there. The series peaked near 285,011 BTC on May 13, 2022 and recorded about 116,150 BTC on October 17, 2026, a substantial change in the backing inventory over time.

Reserve transfers, token minting or redemption settlement and address coverage can affect the balance. A BTC reserve total alone cannot verify token backing: compare it with outstanding WBTC at the same time and scope. It also says nothing about liquidity in a particular token market.

FAQ

Are WBTC reserves measured in BTC or WBTC tokens?

This series measures the underlying BTC in reserve wallets. The amount of WBTC outstanding is a separate token-supply measure needed for a backing comparison.

Does a decline in WBTC reserves mean BTC was sold?

Not necessarily. Reserve coins can leave as part of redemption or custody movements without a market sale. The balance does not reveal what the recipient does with the BTC afterward.

What was the peak WBTC reserve balance in this series?

The recorded peak was about 285,011 BTC on May 13, 2022. Comparing BTC quantities avoids confusing reserve changes with price-driven changes in dollar value.
