Om denne måling

Hvad den måler

Short-Term Holder Supply is the BTC balance assigned to coins last moved within roughly 155 days. Coins enter through recent movement or issuance and leave as they age into the long-term cohort, making this a supply stock rather than a daily transaction volume.

Sådan læses den

A rising balance means more supply has a recent on-chain history; a decline means aging into long-term holdings is outweighing replenishment. The series peaked near 6.07 million BTC on December 14, 2017, compared with about 2.15 million on October 17, 2026. Expansion can reflect older coins returning to circulation, while contraction can reflect coins staying unmoved.

Short-term describes coin age, not trader identity: a long-standing holder can move old coins into a new wallet and create young supply. Exchange ledger trades may leave no on-chain movement at all. Use the cohort's profit and loss balances to assess stress; its size alone does not reveal sentiment or demand.

FAQ

Does STH Supply count short-term traders?

No. It counts BTC using time since the last on-chain move. A single owner can hold both young and old coins, and a self-transfer can make an old holding look recent.

Why does STH Supply decline when coins are not moving?

Coins naturally cross the roughly 155-day boundary and leave the recent cohort. If fewer old coins move and fewer new coins replenish it, its balance falls.

Does STH Supply plus LTH Supply equal every supply estimate?

They cover complementary age cohorts under the same methodology, but alternative supply measures may exclude lost coins or apply different adjustments. Compare totals only when the definitions and dates match.
