Om denne måling

Hvad den måler

New Coin Issuance is the BTC newly created through block subsidies each day, summed across that day’s blocks. Transaction fees are excluded because they transfer existing BTC rather than create new coins.

Sådan læses den

Long-run issuance steps down at halvings, while daily readings fluctuate with the number of blocks found. Following the 2024 halving, a 3.125 BTC subsidy and the target pace of 144 blocks a day imply roughly 450 BTC daily, rather than an exact daily quota. The series recorded about 409 BTC on April 20, 2024 and about 428 BTC on October 17, 2026.

Block discovery is random and changes in hash rate can temporarily move output away from its target pace. A halving day can also mix blocks with different subsidies, depending on its timing. Issuance describes new coins, not total miner income or how many coins miners transfer to exchanges.

FAQ

Why is Bitcoin issuance not exactly 450 BTC every day after the 2024 halving?

The subsidy is fixed per block, not per calendar day. Around 144 blocks a day is a target average, and actual block counts fluctuate.

Are transaction fees included in new issuance?

No. Fees are existing BTC paid by transaction senders to miners. Total miner revenue combines those fees with the block subsidy, while issuance counts only newly created coins.

What was the highest daily issuance in the supplied history?

The series records 34,600 BTC on July 13, 2010. Early block production could deviate sharply from the target pace; that observation is historical output, not the amount scheduled for a typical day.
