Om denne måling

Hvad den måler

Liquid Supply Net Change tracks the 30-day change in the combined BTC allocation to liquid and highly liquid entities. It is measured in BTC and describes the broader liquid pool, rather than just the intermediate-category balance.

Sådan læses den

Positive readings indicate net expansion of the broader liquid allocation; negative readings indicate contraction. The series reached about +419,000 BTC on February 8, 2024 and about -133,000 BTC on December 22 that year. These opposite swings describe rotation in modeled supply liquidity, not a fixed relationship with price direction.

The liquid pool can change through transfers and entity reclassification, so net expansion is not confirmed selling. This rolling window overlaps from day to day and must not be added up as separate daily flows. Compare with illiquid net change and issuance; the two changes need not cancel because total supply also grows.

FAQ

Why does net change differ from the change in the mid-liquidity balance?

This change series follows the broader liquid pool, combining intermediate and highly liquid supply. The standalone Liquid Supply balance only shows the intermediate allocation, so subtracting its two endpoints does not give this series.

Is a negative reading a negative BTC balance?

No. It means the liquid pool is smaller than 30 days earlier. The level of that pool remains a separate balance and cannot be inferred from the change alone.

Should liquid and illiquid net changes sum to zero?

Not exactly. Newly issued coins add to total supply over the same window, so expansion in one allocation need not be offset one-for-one by contraction in the other.
