Mempool Median Fee Rate orders unconfirmed transactions by their offered fee per virtual byte and takes the middle rate, in sat/vB. It describes the midpoint of pending fee bids rather than the total fees waiting.
Jak to číst
When the median rises, higher bids have reached the middle of the queue’s fee distribution; a falling median means the midpoint is moving lower. Its recorded high was 796.9 sat/vB on April 20, 2024, while the full-history median of daily observations is about 6.21 sat/vB.
A few expensive transactions affect the median less than the mean, but shifts in the number of low-fee transactions can move it without changing urgent bids. It ignores transaction size and dependency packages. The middle bid is not a threshold that guarantees inclusion in the next block.

How is the median fee rate different from the mean?
The median takes the middle of the ranked bids; the mean averages their rates. Extreme overbids can raise the mean sharply while leaving the median relatively stable.
Does paying the median rate guarantee quick confirmation?
No. Half of the sampled transactions being below a rate does not mean half the block space is below it. Transaction sizes, dependencies and new arrivals affect which transactions miners include.
Why can the daily median fee rate be fractional?
A fee in satoshis divided by virtual size need not be a whole number. The reported daily series can therefore contain decimal sat/vB values even though the fee itself is paid in whole satoshis.
