Realized Loss by Wallet Size groups daily on-chain losses by address balance, from <0.001 BTC to >100K BTC. Within each group it sums BTC spent below its last-move cost multiplied by the price shortfall, reporting positive loss amounts in USD; Total covers all groups.

A rise in 0.1–1 BTC reflects losses attributed to a smaller balance group, while a surge in 1K–10K BTC concentrates losses in much larger addresses. The 1K–10K BTC series reached about $5.31 billion on November 22, 2025, close to that day's $5.73 billion Total. Concentration of loss amounts can matter as much as the headline total.
Large address groups hold more capital, so compare their contribution with their holdings or activity before judging relative distress. Custodial addresses can represent many clients, and a change of address group is not necessarily a change of owner. Wallet transfers can record a loss without a trade, making large one-day events worth checking separately.

Does a large-address loss spike prove whales sold?
No. A large address can belong to a custody service, and an on-chain transfer may be internal. The metric attributes a cost-basis loss to a balance group without identifying the economic owner or proving a sale.
Why can a few large-address groups dominate realized loss?
Dollar losses depend on both coin volume and distance below cost. Groups with large balances can contribute substantial losses from relatively few transfers, so the chart is not a count of distressed holders.
Does Total include losses from profitable transfers too?
No. Only transfers below their previous cost create realized loss. Gains are measured separately in Realized Profit by Wallet Size, so Total here is a gross loss amount rather than net profit or loss.
